I love this song from the Bollywood movie ” The Great Gambler” featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman. Playback singer is the legendary Asha Bhonsle. I know I am nowhere near her. In fact, none of the current female playback singers could sing as well as she did. So I am presenting the song in my version as well as the original song with the translation.

Today I would like to share a musical tribute to the soldiers defending our nation. This song was sung by the legendary late Lata Mangeshkar while Late Lyricist Pradeep wrote the lyrics with music by C. Ramchandra. It was written during the 1962 Indo-China war. When the former Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru heard this song, he was moved to tears.
The translation is :
O my dear fellow citizens of the country!
Fill your eyes with tears.
Remember the sacrifice of the martyrs.
You should not forget them. Hence I am telling you this story.
Remember the sacrifice of the martyrs.
Stanza 1
When the Mighty Himalayas was wounded, and our freedom was in great danger.
They ( the soldiers) fought until their last breath and finally laid down their corpses.
They were dignified soldiers with great self-respect.
Remember the sacrifice of the martyrs.
Stanza 2
Some (Soldiers) were Sikh, Some Jats, Marathas
Some Gurkha, Some Madrasi ( belonging to South India).
Every brave soldier who lost his life was a true citizen of India.
The blood spilled on the mountains was the Indian blood.
Remember the sacrifice of the martyrs.

I would love to share a beautiful Bollywood song with you. This is one of my favorites.
This translates to :
Jeena yahan marna yahan
Iske siwa jaana kahan
You live here, you die here
Where else can one go but here?
Jee chaahe jab humko awaaz do
Hum hain wahin hum the jahan
Apne yahin dono jahan
Iske siwa jaana kahan
Call out for me whenever you wish
I’m still at the place I was before
These two worlds are here for me
Where else can I go but here?
1st stanza.
Yeh mera geet jeevan sangeet
Kal bhi koi dohraayega
Jag ko hasane behroopiya
Roop badal phir aayega
Swarg yahin nark yahan
Iske siwa jaana kahan
These songs of mine,
the music of my life,
Tomorrow will be sung by someone else.
The world will laugh as the clown
Will return with a changed face
Heaven is here, and so is Hell
Where to go but here?
Stanza 2
Kal khel mein hum ho na ho
Gardish mein taare rehenge sada
Bhoolonge tum bhoolenge woh
Par hum tumhaare rehenge sada
Rehenge yahin apne nishan
Iske siwa jaana kahan
In tomorrow’s game, whether I am there or not, The stars will forever be in the sky You will forget, and so will they But I will forever be yours My memories will remain here Where else to go but here?
You live here, you die here
Where else can one go but here?

This is indeed a Sunday Surprise post for you as well as me because I was planning to take the complete day off or even a week. But, my next post will be on Monday, January 2, 2023. I am going to share a funny poem and a special Hindi song from the movie Zakhmi.
The lack of co-ordination between the heart and the brain.
Is the real cause of human pain.
When brain tells us something to do or abstain,
Our heart creates confusion in vain.
Our heart forces us to smile when we meet our adversary.
Our brain scolds us " Was is this idiotic grin really necessary? "
Can you just visualize the scene?
Planning to go out but guests find their way in.
They are planning to stay for a day or two.
Their kids turn your house into a zoo.
Your heart forces to smile but brain wants to skin their hide.
You keep being polite, swallowing your pride.
When your beloved spouse, shows his or her singing talent on Singing App with a horrible voice.
You have to appreciate it, for you have no choice.
Your brain advises you to give him or her a slap.
But your heart wins again! Oh, what a crap!
Whom do you listen to; Your brain or your heart?
I have thought of combining them both for a start.
I know that it's an uphill task.
But better to try co-ordinating them, rather than wearing a mask.
This is a beautiful song by Late Lata Mangeshkar and Sushma Shreshthta ( Poornima)
The song translates to :
aao tumhe.n chaa.nd pe le jaaye.n Come, let’s take you to the Moon, pyaar bhare sapne sajaaye.n and create dreams filled with love. chhoTaa-saa ba.nglaa banaaye.n Let’s build a small home, ek nayii duniyaa basaaye.n and settle a new world.
pyaar kii hai duniyaa duur aasmaa.n pe A world of love exists in the far skies. mil ke na bichhDe koii vahaa.n pe No is separated after being united there. aisii bhii ek Dagar hai, aisaa bhii ek nagar hai There is a path to such a place.
gham jahaa.n soye aur khushi jaage Sorrow sleeps there, while joy awakens. aas kii hai manzil taaro.n se aage It is a destination of hope beyond the stars. vahaa.n dil rote nahii.n hai.n, aan.nsuu to hote nahii.n hai.n Hearts do not cry there, for tears do not even exist.
aao tumhe.n chaa.nd pe le jaaye.n Come, let’s take you to the Moon.
Happy holidays, friends. Meet you on January 2, 2023.

I would love to dedicate this song to all the little angels across the world. This song explains why children are simply the best. Sung by Late Lata Mangeshkar for the film Do Kaliyaan, we could see the superb performance by Neetu Kapoor ( as a child artiste) along with the heroine Mala Sinha ( who plays her mother) and Biswajeet as the father. Neetu plays a double role, that of an identical twin. Let’s enjoy the song.
Dailymotion.
The song translates to.
Children are blessed with a true (pure) heart.
They are the apple of the eyes of the whole world.
These are the little flowers whom God loves.
They get easily offended ( Stanza 1)
But also quick to get pacified ( Calm down).
They become good friends.
They start talking to those who argued with them within the next moment.
They don’t bear animosity towards anyone.
They don’t consider anyone a stranger.
Their innocence welcomes everyone with open arms.
Children are blessed with a true (pure) heart…
As long as a man is a child, (stanza 2),
He continues to speak truth.
As he continues to grow older,
His mind is covered with the dirty layer of lies,
Anger rises and hatred takes over him.
Greed gets the better of him.
The Childhood spends its time free from these sins.
Children are blessed with a true (pure) heart…..
Stanza 3
They have soft bodies and beautiful minds,
Children are better than adults.
They are free from the web of lies and deceit.
They don’t discriminate on the basis of caste and creed.
There’s no barrier of language or a wall of religion for them.
For them, a temple, a mosque and Gurudwara are equal.
These lyrics are real gems and absolutely true. I hope you enjoyed the song.

Before I call it a night, I would love to share this video of a very young talented super singer, Mani, whose voice is magical. I just watched this video on YouTube. I don’t know the date of telecast.
This was originally sung by late Mohammad Rafi for the movie ” Hawas” .
Translation ( deewanis.blogspot.com).
Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakhenge Kadam Aaj Ke Baad
I will not step on your streets after today
Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakhenge Kadam Aaj Ke Baad
Tere Milne Ko Na Aayenge Sanam Aaj Ke Baad
I will not come to meet you after today
Teri Galiyon Mein…
Tu Mera Milna…
Tu Mera Milna Samajh Lena Ek Sapna Tha
Think of our meeting as a dream
Tujh Ko Ab Mil Hi Gaya Jo Tera Apna Tha
You have now found he whom was yours
Tu Mera Milna Samajh Lena Ek Sapna Tha
Tujh Ko Ab Mil Hi Gaya Jo Tera Apna Tha
Hum Ko Duniya Mein Samajhna Na Sanam Aaj Ke Baad
Do not think of me as existing in this world, my love, after today
Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakhenge Kadam Aaj Ke Baad
Teri Galiyon Mein…
Ghir Ke Aayengi…
Ghir Ke Aayengi Ghatayein Phir Se Saawan Ki
The clouds of the rainy season will come again
Tum Tau Baahon Mein Rahogi Apne Saajan Ki
You will be in the arms of your beloved
Ghir Ke Aayengi Ghatayein Phir Se Saawan Ki
Tum Tau Baahon Mein Rahogi Apne Saajan Ki
Gale Hum Gham Ko Lagayenge Sanam Aaj Ke Baad
I (however) will embrace sorrow, my love, after today
Teri Galiyon Mein Na Rakhenge Kadam Aaj Ke Baad
Tere Milne Ko Na Aayenge Sanam Aaj Ke Baad
Teri Galiyon Mein….

This is a heart touching Bollywood song from the movie ” Shirdi Ke Sai Baba”. Sai Baba was one of the greatest saints of India who was believed to be a reincarnation of Lord Dattatreya ( Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva). He did many miracles while he was alive. This song is played just after a little girl approaches grocers to give her oil for lighting lamps for Diwali. Since she belongs to a lower caste and poor, the grocers insult her and turn her away until Sai Baba takes pity on her and a great miracle awaits everyone while he lights the lamps for the girl using water instead of oil. Such is the power of the Great Sadguru ( The Holy Teacher), Saibaba, was full of love and compassion for all his devotees.
I hope you liked the song.
Due to time constraint, I will share the translation of the lyrics later.
