A VISIT TO CORNICHE, MUTRAH, MUSCAT

GRAND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

Hi Friends,

Today I would like to share some pics and video of my trip to Corniche, Mutrah in Muscat which reminds us of Marine Drive in Mumbai. We celebrated my daughter’s 13th birthday on April 15th, 2023 by visiting Krishna Temple and Corniche.

Corniche

Mutrah Corniche is nearly 3 km along the waterfront and is just a 7-10 minutes drive from Darsait where we are staying with my brother. (We includes, my mom, daughter and of course, me). It’s such a gorgeous and picturesque location, surrounded by mountains, on one side and the sea on the other.

In fact, the term ” Corniche ” means a road that is built into the side of a cliff, especially one that follows a coastline. In simple words, it refers to a location where you can find mountains on one side and the sea on the other and a road that passes between them.

This is the Mutrah Fort. I am sorry I got it wrong in the video as I thought it to be The Al Hazm fort which was displayed on the slab above.

Mutrah Fort

According to OmanTripper.com, The Mutrah Fort is believed to have been built in 1507 AD and subsequently modified by the Portuguese during their regime in Oman in the 1500s for defense against the attacks by the Ottomans.

The sea water is so crystal clear that you can even see the submerged stones.

This is the famous Mutrah Souq which is one of the oldest Market places in Oman. It’s nearly two hundred years old.

Krishna Temple

As per hindutemplesom.com, Krishna Temple is located in Darsait and is near the OCF church. It’s 28-30 kms from Seeb Airport. In 1987, a merchant community from Gujarat who had settled in Muscat built this temple. It was extensively renovated in 2013 and now has all the amenities for worshippers, as well as a multipurpose hall with room for 500–700 worshippers to attend events hosted by the management.

The temple timings are 5:30am to 11:30am in the morning and evening 5:00pm to 9:30pm.
