JOYFUL BIRDS : A POEM BY ME

I am running short of words 
And also, probably, time. 
Let me dedicate this poem to the sweet birds. 
My feelings may or may not rhyme. 

Cuckoo made me realize that the real beauty lies within. 
So melodious is its voice,  that we rarely care for its outward skin. 
A parrot, with its colorful plumage, charms us by imitating human voice. 
Teach it good words, it will speak sweetly. 
Hearing swear words won't be nice. 

The messenger of love and peace is white dove. 
Reminding us of the angels in the heavens above. 
The peacock looks royal with its grandeur and colorful plumage. 
Its dancing in the rain, fascinates people of every age. 

Very unique is the gorgeous hummingbird. 
It can fly backwards, so I have heard. 
A Weaver bird builds an amazing nest. 
Its creativity is simply the best. 

Highly intelligent are the ravens and the crows. 
Despite being black, their wisdom shows. 
A vulture is a scavenger feeding on the dead. 
I find it quite awesome, rather than ugly or fearsome instead. 

Sparrows are cuties and so are the robins. 
And what to speak of the waders, Dunlins. 
Pelicans, Herons, Flamingos, and Egrets. 
Unable to see them all, is one of my regrets. 

Swans manage to take away my breath. 
Their everlasting beauty puts to shame even death. 
Pheasants, Partridges, pigeons, and fowls. 
Or the 360° head rotating wise owls. 

Birds add colors and joy to our lives mundane. 
Had it been not for them, we would be insane. 
They, along with our furry friends, are Mother Nature's best gifts. 
A glance at them, and our broken spirit considerably lifts.
