I enjoyed reading this Cozy Animal mystery. It doesn’t involve unnecessary description that could dampen the momentum of reading, and very interesting. Violets and Vengeance makes a delightful read because it’s completely free from any kind of offensive language or a gory crime scene. And I also loved the fact a pet helps his human to figure out the clues.
Chloe Carson is helping her mother, Mabel, with the renovation of their dream project of Cedarbrook Treehouse Hotel. She has left her pet pooches, Max and Trixie, at Pearlβs Pooch Pampering when her sister, Joey, working at the center, calls Chloe, panicking over the phone. When Chloe visits the pet grooming center, she’s shocked to learn that Violet’s dead body is lying on the floor. Her sister, Joey, is upset because she’s also one of the persons who had an argument with the deceased. Violet wasn’t very popular and her dead body was first discovered by Judy Livingston, a councilwoman, according to Joey. Pearl, the owner of the salon is shocked and urges Chloe to help finding the killer because the reputation of her business is at stake along with Joey’s freedom. Violet made lots of enemies because of her attitude.
But who killed Violet and why? Will Chloe be able to crack the case ? It’s a wonderful cozy mystery and definitely worth reading.
