Author Krista Lockheart has written a wonderful, refreshing cozy mystery. There are all the essential elements of a great cozy mystery: humor, no gory murder details, no offensive language, refreshing romance that doesn’t go beyond a romantic kiss, and super twists in the tale with an equally thrilling climax.

Heather Moore has just got a job as the greenhouse director at Shellesby College, Boston and moved from Washington DC. She gets ready to buy a new variety of lilies, rainbow lilies to impress her boss and goes to the Cambridge Flower Market with her pet Anthurium aka Ant, a Chihuahua, for buying a bunch. But there’s too much crowd even at the wee hours in the morning. She’s about to go for the purchase when someone sets off a fire alarm and she’s forced to move out by the security officers and happens to meet Lars Oslo, a handsome director of the horticulture department at Middleton University who featured in the cover page of the Botanical Digest. He happens to give her the rainbow lilies and this is the beginning of a new friendship.

Heather has inherited her Grandfather’s sprawling estate and decides to reconnect with her nephew Oliver who has a prison record. She speaks about Oliver’s ex-girlfriend, Mary and Oliver loses his temper. Holly and Williams are her two friends cum colleagues at Shellesby College.

Unfortunately, she stumbles upon a dead body in her Papa’s garden shed while she smells the fragrance of chocolate. She moves in with Williams and Holly until the police give her the clearance to enter her house. She learns from Detective Huff that the dead body belonged to a woman, Mary Rose, also from Shellesby College. She’s determined to seek justice for the dead woman and also clear any involvement of her family in the murder because she was the one to discover the corpse and also because Mary helped her Papa.
Wow! I was so intrigued with the story that I didn’t get up until I finished reading and discovering the culprit. This is awesome! Highly recommended for cozy mystery lovers.
