HAPPY RAKSHABANDHAN: A POEM BY ME

Hello Friends,

Today is the most auspicious and beautiful occasion of Rakshabandhan, in which a sister ties a silk, decorative thread called Rakhi on her brother’s ( elder as well as younger) wrist, praying for his good health and welfare. She also gives him sweet and in turn, a brother promises to protect his sister from all kinds of danger. This is the most sacred relationship. So, I wish all the men across the world except my husband, a Happy Rakshabandhan. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€. I wish to share a special poem on this occasion.

You are my most precious treasure.
My love for you is way beyond measure.
We are the life and soul of our mother.
You are God's gift to me, dear brother.

I remember the time when I sang you a lullaby.
I would try to keep you entertained so that you wouldn't cry.
I would read out the stories from the book of fairytales.
You were fond of the sea creatures like sharks and whales.

We might have fought with each other, calling names.
I do miss playing our childhood games.
We might have personal differences but that won't affect our relationship.
When you get hurt, I feel the pain.
Such is our friendship.

Her father and her brother are the only men, a woman can trust.
While the others eye her with pure lust.
You, my dear brother, always make me smile.
You have an amazing sense of humor and a unique style.

This is not just a decorative thread (Rakhi) but a strong bond of love.
Witnessed by the earth and the heaven above.
May you be blessed with a good health, and prosperity and a happy, long life.
May you never witness any strife.

This thread of love called Rakhi, I tie upon your wrist.
Just promise to be with me always, this is what I ask for a gift.
No matter if we live miles apart.
We always live in each other's heart.
