This Sunday is full of surprises. I was contemplating whether to post this blog. Because this is something that I have never done before but my gut instinct told me to go ahead and wish one of the most gorgeous and my most favorite actress, Madhuri Dixit, a very happy birthday. She’s an ageless beauty and an outstanding actress with a million dollar smile that would make anyone crazy. She turns 55 today but doesn’t look her age. Wow!
She began her career with Rajshri Productions’ Abodh in 1984 but the movie flopped. After starring in several unsuccessful movie, her talent, hard work and dedication finally paid off with the blockbuster Tezaab (1987). Let’s enjoy the song which catapulted her to the rising stardom. I remember dancing to the song as a kid.
A string of blockbusters followed that made her the undisputed queen of Bollywood replacing Sridevi, another favorite actress of mine.
Her movies like Ram Lakhan (1989), Tridev (1989), Thanedaar (1990), Kishen Kanhaiya (1990), Dil (1990), Saajan (1991), Beta (1992) , Khalnaayak (1993), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), Dil to Paagal Hai (1997), Devdaas (2002) are some of the top most Bollywood box office grossers. She won critical acclaim for her powerful performances in movies like a the social dramas, Mrityudand (1997) and Lajja (2001). Renowned painter MF Hussain had been fascinated by her ravishing beauty.
She has won six Filmfare awards from the 17 nominations, which include four for the best actress, Dil (1990), Beta (1992), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), and Dil to Pagal Hai (1997).
She won the best supporting actress award for Devdaas (2002). I love her movies and especially, Beta, and Hum Aapke Hain koun, I watched nearly 10-15 times. Besides, she got her wax model at Madame Tussauds, London and won the fourth highest civilian award, Padmashri.
She married Dr. Shriram Nene in 1999 and is blessed with two sons. She took a sabbatical from acting and came back with Aaja Nachle (2007), Dedh Ishqiya (2014), a Marathi movie , Bucket List (2018), and Total Dhamal (2019). Total Dhamal is a superb comical thriller and she proves her mettle with a stellar performance. She’s one of the most versatile actresses to have graced the silver screen. Her performance in Pukaar was so good that I must have watched the movie several times for her sake.
You must be wondering I am an obsessed fan. But I am not. I just want to thank her by wishing her a very happy birthday and may she continue to entertain us with her awesome acting skills. Right now, she’s doing a series on Netflix, The Fame Game. Unfortunately, I haven’t subscribed to Netflix yet.
That’s it folks, for today. I hope you enjoyed the taste of Bollywood. I forgot to tell you I have stopped watching movies for quite sometime because my new fascination is reading books on Kindle.
