POETIC THURSDAYS (15)

LESSONS OF LIFE : A POEM BY ME

Instead of fighting with guns and knives,
Which claim so many innocent lives,
Why don't we slay our inner demons?
With the help of spiritual weapons.

Why don't we douse the fire of hatred with buckets of love?
Why don't we search for God within ourselves than in the heaven above?
Why don't we make others smile instead of giving them tears?
Why don't we teach courage to all instead of promoting irrational fears?

Why don't we learn to share happiness with all?
Why don't we learn to respect lives in all forms, big or small?
Why don't we encourage others to rise up instead of plotting their downfall?
Why don't we stick with high moral values and stand tall?

Why don't we destroy greed with the weapon of charity?
Why don't we give up ambiguous thoughts, and focus on the clarity?
Of our goals and ambitions for a successful life.
Let's ensure that the cutting of vegetables or cake is the sole purpose of a knife.

Why don't we fight the darkness of ignorance with the light of knowledge?
Education doesn't confine only going to school or college.
It helps us to differentiate between the right and the wrong.
It enables us to think clearly and makes our character strong.

Bookish knowledge is no good if used for demolition.
Positive thoughts and optimism can help in miraculous resolution.
Of problems and conflicts that are the products of our ego and pride.
Let's enjoy each moment of our lives, and face the ups and downs like a roller coaster ride.
