THE LOVE OF THE WORDs : A POEM BY ME

THE LOVE OF THE WORDS

The dollar signs flash before my eyes,
When I read about the writing contest.
I start writing a few lines twice or thrice.
But the words fail me to prove my best.

Sometimes I think of writing about nature,
Or get into a tragic mode.
I need my words to be mature.
To relieve me of my thoughts’ load.

I often ask myself the reason for taking up writing.
My heart then responds to me.
It opens up to a creative world that’s exciting.
The power of imagination sets me free.

I wish to escape from the misery of the chaotic earth.
And I dive deeper into the world of books.
Writing gives me immense joy, like that of giving birth.
And take care of how my child ( poem or story) looks.

Writing enables me to share my joy or frustrations.
I consider written words my best friends. They might be the products of the other poets and authors’ imaginations.
I pray that this friendship never ends.

Writing is an art that gives me an immense thrill.
Words express my mood.
I can give life to any character in my story or make the villain kill.
Or write a tragic poem whenever I brood.

Money is simply a decoy to lure,
The sleeping, hidden talents.
Writing brings the world together for sure.
Words never discriminate between ladies and gents.
