The story so far:

Grace Royce accompanies her best friend and colleague, Sharmila Gupta’s wedding in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh, India. When Sharmila shows her fiance’s photo, Grace is shocked because she has frequently seen him in her dreams forcing an innocent girl to suicide.

She saves Sharmila from marrying a criminal after nabbing him and his friends in a shameful act of trying to hang an innocent girl.

Grace has recurring dreams of Sharmila attempting suicide when the friends are holidaying in Dehradun. Her fear is about to materialize after their trip. Grace skilfully revisits the past and alters everybody’s memories to stop the wagging tongues of people from hurting Sharmila. She thwarts the attempt of a mad scientist X, in Australia, who is watching the proceedings, to kill Sharmila. The plot gets more sinister and now we move to the third chapter.

Chapter 3

The inevitable.

X had planned his next course of action. He decided to test his machine on Sharmila by causing her minor accidents. He wrote a message on a piece of paper:
I want Sharmila to slip and fall on the road with a minor scratch on her knees.

He fed this data into his machine and switched on the TV to watch the proceedings. He saw Sharmila in a garden with Grace as her companion. They were laughing heartily as Sharmila’s mobile rang. She got up from the wooden bench and moved away to answer her call. She failed to notice a small brick on her path and tripped on it. She had a nasty fall and scraped her knees against a slab of concrete.

X couldn’t hide his excitement while Grace was shocked to see her friend fall. She approached her and asked,” Are you alright? Does it hurt too much?” Sharmila smiled and answered,” I am fine. Thanks for your concern, dear. It’s just a scratch.”

X and his friends celebrated her fall. He had planned minor accidents before killing her.
She cut her finger, fell down the stairs, and had a minor burn in her left palm. Grace couldn’t see these accidents happening beforehand. Grace felt dejected over her sudden loss of power. She was so worried about Sharmila that she made it a point to follow her wherever she went

Initially, Sharmila felt very happy and secure to be with Grace. After a couple of days, Sharmila felt frustrated and longed for privacy. She snapped at Grace when the latter planned to accompany her to the temple. She said,” You aren’t my bodyguard, Grace. You must understand and respect my privacy. Besides, you can’t always be with me. You are going back to Australia without me. I am sure I will be alright.” Grace felt abashed but said nothing. Sharmila muttered a quick apology after watching her crestfallen face.

X had a malicious smile on his face. He was waiting for this moment. He finally planned her accidental death. Sharmila was about to cross the road when a speeding car ran her over. A large crowd had gathered on the spot. An onlooker called for an ambulance and contacted Sharmila’s home landline number after picking her mobile from the fallen purse. Grace answered the phone and immediately reached the accidental spot.

Sharmila was bleeding profusely. Grace took her to the hospital and waited outside the ICU. She also informed Sharmila’s parents about the accident. They rushed to the hospital straight from a wedding ceremony. Her father, Mr. Gupta, thanked her for her timely help. Sharmila’s health kept deteriorating with every passing moment. Grace prayed for a miracle to save her friend. She stepped out of the hospital and tried snapping her fingers to go back into the past.Unfortunately, this time her special powers failed her miserably.

And then, the inevitable happened. Dr.Subhash Mehta announced the death of Sharmila after he and his team failed to revive her. Grace wept inconsolably and hugged Sharmila’s parents.

X switched off the television. He threw a grand party for the success of his evil plan. Grace helped the aged couple with the funeral arrangements and extended her stay by a couple of days. That night, she was unable to sleep. She missed her dear friend. She kept tossing and turning in her bed until sleep finally engulfed her in its arms.

She had a weird dream. She was back in her home in Melbourne. She saw a flashing light, and a bright couple appeared before her with a grin on their faces. ” Hi, Sweetie!” the old woman said, ” How are you doing?” Grace couldn’t believe her eyes. She saw her dead parents in front of her. They had passed away when she was completing her graduation from college. Her father added with a chuckle, “I guess you didn’t expect us, right? Please listen to whatever I say carefully. You are a powerful witch like us. You possess a psychic power. You can also change someone’s destiny by going back into the past or future.” ” It’s a big lie,” yelled Grace, ” I couldn’t save my best friend Sharmila from her death. What’s the use of having special powers when you failed your best friend?”

Her mother responded, “Don’t blame yourself, Sweetie. You already saved her twice. You also tried your best to protect her. It was her destiny to die young. Her death was inevitable. Let me show you what would have happened had she lived. Just close your eyes and hold my hands.”

Her parents took her to an alternative time dimension. She saw a glimpse of herself with Sharmila in India. They were ready to come back to Australia. She saw herself confiding in Sharmila about her special powers. Grace had a nasty surprise in store for her. Her invisible form with her parents kept watching the turn of events. Her eyes opened wide in shock and horror. Watch out for the next episode as a shocking drama unfolds.
