ECHO (1) BY KENT WAYNE
I must congratulate the author for coming up with a wonderful book. Wow! Awesome! Just imagine living in a planet similar to our Earth and visualize the next century. I loved the way Mr. Wayne created his realistic characters and the situations prevailing in the future. The description of late 21st century in the planet Echo sparked my imaginative mental vision.
The story is set around 1200 years ahead from now on a planet similar to the earth called Echo. Our protagonist, Atriya, undergoes rigorous physical exercise by carrying a heavy ruck loaded with sand on a hilly terrain. He is a part of The Crusader group, also known as The Crew, a division of the Department of Enforcement. The Military and Police combined together form the Department of Enforcement. The planet is under an autocratic rule where the Government and corporations have merged together to form an oppressive regime.
Atriya’s role is to execute the dissidents plotting to overthrow the present regime. On his way to the plateau, he comes across selection process for the Crew that involves merciless training. It’s not meant for the weak. He reminisces of his own selection and training.
Apart from his job as a crusader, he has to fight the inner demons within himself after witnessing the incident on the plateau and the spoiled pomegranate seeds scattered in his room. What has he witnessed on the plateau? Will he succeed in his mission to overcome the darkness within himself and on his planet? I also appreciate that the story emphasizes on the survival of the fittest under unfavorable living conditions.
This is a thrilling book offering an insight into the future. Join Atriya in his dangerous and deadly journey.
