THE CHARISMA OF CARTOONS

It’s Sunday. Yippee! I have finished my household chores. Now I can watch my favorite TV show. Hello, What’s this? My daughter has already beat me in the race to the couch. She is surfing through a multitude of cartoon channels while I am seething in anger.
” Enough!” I yell at her, “It’s time to open your notebooks and do your homework.”
“Aww, come on, Mom,”she pleads with her puppy eyes, “Please let me watch this episode of my favorite cartoon, Doraemon. I promise to hand over the TV remote after it’s over.”
I decide to join her and wait for my turn at the remote. I start enjoying the show. I become a six-year-old girl again giggling at the comic capers of Nobita and Doraemon. Cartoons are the best things created by humans.
I prefer watching them over the news channels or the daily soaps. I appreciate the creative imagination and animation of the talented persons behind the successful cartoons.
Speaking of cartoons, I have compiled a list of the cartoons that continue to rule our hearts with their undisputed charm, humor, and innocence.

My most favorite cartoon is still Tom and Jerry.

An adorable pair picture courtesy Wikipedia

Tom and Jerry made their debut in 1940 by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. I love the way they tease and chase each other. They are so cute. I find their antics very funny. The fact that Tom doesn’t kill or eat Jerry is worth appreciating. Rare is such friendship.

Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck

Mickey Mouse made his debut in the film Steamboat Willie (1928) as a replacement for Oswald, the Lucky rabbit by Walt Disney. Donald Duck first appeared in  print The Adventures of Mickey Mouse (1931); In animation , The Wise Little Hen (1934).

They are very cute and I love watching their crazy adventures. Their friends include, Pluto, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Clarabelle and so sweet Chip and Dale.

Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck

Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck were created in the late 1930s by Leon Schlesinger productions that went on to become Warner Bros studios. Though Daffy Duck and his nemesis Porky Pig are hilarious, I prefer Bugs Bunny who outshines Daffy with his mischief and pranks on Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam.

Scooby Doo Where are you?

Scooby Doo Where are you ❓is a Hanna-Barbera production that made its debut in the year 1969. The lead characters, Fred, Wilma, Shaggy, Daphne, Scooby ( The dog) and its nephew Scrappy investigate the mystery behind the supposed haunting and expose the villains. I loved watching it.

The Mask

The Mask is a hilarious cartoon based on the movie ‘ The Mask’. This series made its debut on 12th August 1995 and aired on Cartoon Network. The protagonist, Stanley Ipkiss, is such an adorable character. When he transforms into The Mask, his crazy antics has me in splits.

Chota Bheem.

Chota Bheem is the Indian child Superhero residing in the fictitious village of Dholakpur with his friends, Kalia, the naughty twins Dholu- Bholu, Chutki, Raju and the monkey that talks like humans, Jaggu. The village is ruled by the kind hearted and a just ruler, King Indraverma with his daughter, Princess Indumati. It’s very popular among Indian children.

I thank Wikipedia for the trivia on different cartoons and various websites for the images.
